Laura & Ivan | Clare Island wedding

It hasn’t been the first time Ive visited Clare Island but it is the first time Ive been to a wedding there or any of the islands actually (apart from Achill Island but you don’t need to hop on a boat to get to that one). I was really looking forward to this wedding as I knew it was not going to be like most others and I actually know Laura and Ivan. Its not very often you hear the bride will be arriving to the ceremony on a tandem bike with her dad. Not only that but both families would be cycling to and from the ceremony which was about 4 kilometres away (and yes there was a plan B in place incase of rain).  It was the ideal location to do such a thing as there isn’t a whole lot of cars on those roads and the scenery is absolutely amazing. I loved how chilled out they were about the whole day and all the little personal touches they added to make the day extra special from the awesome bow tie to the personalised wedding rings.

The weather wasn’t the best as we waited to board the ferry (as you can see in the first photo) but luckily enough it cleared up on the way  across. Laura and Ivan went with a beautiful celtic hand fasting ceremony in a medieval church from the 12th century known as the Abbey. If you are ever visiting, check it out as it contains medieval wall paintings (so no flash photography).

I was very pleased with myself that I managed not to get injured while trying to cycle and take photos at the same time. Some people can cycle around with no hands, not me, I feel nervous enough being on a bicycle using only the one hand.
